Which port should you leave from?
Before picking times, it’s worth knowing the price and time trade-off between ports:
- Long Beach is the cheapest and fastest option to Avalon (~1 hour, from $42 round-trip base fare each way) — best if you’re coming from LA or don’t mind the drive.
- San Pedro is the same price as Long Beach but slightly longer (1h15) and also the only port serving Two Harbors, the quieter side of the island.
- Dana Point costs a few dollars more ($44) and takes 1.5 hours, but it’s the most convenient if you’re coming from Orange County or San Diego.
