DFDS — short for Det Forenede Dampskibs-Selskab, meaning The United Steamship Company — was founded in 1866 through the merger of four Danish steamship companies. Unlike some ferry operators, DFDS does not offer eTickets or web check-in on most routes. You must arrive at the port and collect your physical boarding pass at the DFDS ticket desk using your booking confirmation code. As a result, it is important to allow extra time at the port.
